AK-Green Dot 225 Ultra Hi-Density® EPS Insulation

The Right Choice!

While polyurethane insulation may have been considered the favored insulation for low-temperature applications, a closer look reveals that AK-Green Dot 225 Ultra Hi-Density® is the right and trustworthy choice !

1. AK-Green Dot 225® guarantees its R-Value remains constant for the life of the product. The higher the R-Value and the longer it remains constant, the greater the insulating value and energy $avings.

2. AK-Green Dot 225® guarantees its Design R-Value of 5.5/in for -10 F° box temperature for 20 years. On the other hand, polyurethane starts its deterioration process immediately after it is manufactured and continues to loose by some estimates up to 30% of its R-Value within 180 days.

3. AK-Green Dot 225® gives more R-Value for your energy dollar$. With polyurethane’s and extruded polystyrene’s (XPS) drops in R-Value, the refrigeration system will work harder and consume more and more energy, and the walk-in will not hold its temperature.

4. AK-Green Dot 225® has an outstanding moisture resistance for low temperature conditions which is the biggest factor affecting the insulation performance.

5. AK-Green Dot 225® is much SAFER than polyurethane. The toxicity index of EPS is 1.8 compared to polyurethane which is 40. This is according to The Naval Engineering Standard (NES) method that calculates a toxicity index based on 14 quantitatively determined combustion and/or thermal decomposition gases.

6. AK-Green Dot 225® is not affected by age and remains stable over time. Therefore, it is exempt from The Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) Trade Regulation Rule: 16 CFR Part 460: Labeling and Advertising of Insulation designed to assist consumers in evaluating and comparing the long-term thermal performance characteristics of competing insulation products, such as polyurethane and also extruded polystyrene (XPS).
